Oz Comic-Con Announces Partnership with ReedPOP

posted on by Jon Hayward
Australian pop culture convention has just announced a partnership with an American pop culture exhibition production company;

The announcement was made in the Sydney Herald Sun on Sunday the 9th of February 2014 and confirmed on the Oz Comic-Con facebook page on Monday the 10th of February.

While the exact details of the partnership are not known, ReedPOP's network of events include New York Comic-Con, Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo, the Star Wars Celebration and the PAX collection of expos (PAX Prime, Pax East and PAX Australia) and from the articles, that same network will be leveraged to improve and further develop Oz Comic-Con.

ReedPOP's Lance Fensterman stated in the Herald Sun article;

"Us partnering with Oz Comic-Con is to help make something that has more brands, more celebrities, more content to the amazing team and brand that exists in Australia.

Think about it this way, it is amplifying a small business. Fans know what it is and with extra resources, we can help lift this to a new level."

ReedPOP is a division of Reed Exhibitions (in turn owned by multinational publisher Reed Elsevier) that is no stranger to Australia having run the Penny Arcade Expo Australia (PAX Australia) in July last year. ReedPOP did run the New York Anime Festival until 2012 where they merged the event with the New York Comic-Con.

Oz Comic-Con stated that the partnership will begin from the Perth event on the 29th and 30th of March. Tickets will be on sale for the Perth and Adelaide events shortly.

Guests at the Perth and Adelaide events include legendary voice actor Rob Paulsen (Yakko Warner in Animaniacs, Raphael in TMNT 1987, Donatello in TMNT 2013), Mike McFarland (Master Roshi in Dragon Ball Z), Todd Haberkorn (Kerokero in Sgt/.Frog, Firo Prochainezo in Baccano! and Allen Walker in D.Gray-man) and Sean Schemmel (voice of Goku in Dragon Ball Z).

You can find out further information on the Perth and Adelaide events on Oz Comic-Con's website and facebook page
