1st Persona 3 Blu-ray/DVD Adds 7 Minutes of Cut Footage

posted on by Sarah Nelkin

The official Twitter account for Persona 3 the Movie #1 Spring of Birth, the first anime film of Atlus's Persona 3 RPG, announced on Saturday that the Blu-ray and DVD release of the film will include seven minutes of footage that was cut from the film in theaters. The cut was made due to “various circumstances,” despite these scenes being “well-known to fans.” According to the staff, some clips from these scenes appear in the commercials for the film.

The main disc of the limited edition of the Blu-ray and DVD release will include the full director's cut of the film with the seven minutes of cut footage, a collection of promotional videos and commercials, and audio commentary.

The limited edition Blu-ray and DVD release will also bundle the original theatrical cut of the film, an original soundtrack CD which includes the ending theme song “More Than One Heart” by Yumi Kawamura and background music tracks, a box with three sides illustrated with new art by Keisuke Watabe, a “Digi Jacket” with original art, a 48-page booklet, 10 “Super P3 Stickers,” (one exclusive to the bundle, and nine from the theater bonuses chosen at random), and four illustration cards featuring key visuals for the first film.

The normal version of the film on Blu-ray and DVD will only contain the audio commentary and special footage, excluding the version of the film only screened in theaters.

The film will go on sale in Japan on May 14. The limited edition Blu-ray and DVD packs will sell for 8,400 yen (about US$84) and 7,350 yen (US$73), respectively. The normal editions of the film will retail for 6,300 yen (US$63) on Blu-ray and 5,250 yen (US$52) on DVD.
