9th DVD/BD to feature 120-min. digest of Attack on Taikan event

Pony Canyon began streaming a "Reading & Live Event Attack On Taikan" video on Friday for the Attack on Titan anime's 9th DVD and Blu-ray Disc release. A 120-minute digest video of the Attack On Taikan (Attack Sound Experience) stage event will be in the first copies of the 9th DVD and Blu-ray Disc volumes when they ship in Japan on March 19.

The anime's main cast appeared at the Attack On Taikan event on October 12. Yūki Kaji (Eren), Yui Ishikawa (Mikasa), Marina Inoue (Armin), Kishô Taniyama (Jean), Yū Kobayashi (Sasha), and Hiro Shimono (Conny) read an all-new story on stage as their characters. The television anime's composer Hiroyuki Sawano and other musicians also appeared and performed live music at the event.

The 9th volume's other bonuses will include a special plastic sleeve illustrated by character designer Kyoji Asano, ending illustration cards, 24-page full-color special booklet, and Shingeki no Kyojin Chimi Chara Theater "Tonde ke! Training Corps" video. The Blu-ray Disc will retail at 7,500 yen (about US$73), while the DVD will cost 6,500 yen (abouts US$63).

The adaptation of Hajime Isayama's original manga premiered in Japan on April 6. Director Tetsuro Araki (Death Note, Highschool of the Dead, Guilty Crown), head writer Yasuko Kobayashi (Shakugan no Shana, Claymore, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure), character designer Kyoji Asano (Psycho-Pass, Tokyo Marble Chocolate), and Wit Studio (in cooperation with Production I.G) worked on Attack on Titan. The series stars Yūki Kaji as Eren Yeager, Yui Ishikawa as Mikasa Ackerman, and Marina Inoue as Armin Arlert.

Both Funimation and Crunchyroll streamed the series as it aired in Japan. Funimation slated the series to ship on home video this year. Funimation's English dub will debut at Anime Boston in March.
