J-Stars Victory Vs. Game's 7-Minute Video Unveils 52 Characters

Namco Bandai Games began streaming the sixth full promotional video for its J-Stars Victory Vs. "team battle action" video game on Friday. The seven-minute video introduces the premise of the game: "J Battle Festival, a dream festival that happens once in 45 years," will assemble heroes who exemplify friendship, hard work, and victory.

In the spirit of friendship, the game supports 2 vs. 2 team battles in dream matches that crosses the borders between titles. Players can unleash combination attacks never possible until now, some with the help of support characters.

The game epitomizes hard work with 52 characters from 32 titles — from Kochira Katsushika-ku Kamearikouen-mae Hashutsujo (1976-current) to Assassination Classroom (2012-current).

Players can attain victory in several game modes. J Adventure Mode tells an original story set in the vast "Jump World." Players can assemble characters and embark on voyages throughout "Jump World" with a ship. Players can collect "J Points" for cards in battles and adventures as well as items in the J-Point Shop. They can then use the resulting J-Stars Card deck to level up their characters and ships.

There is also a Victory Road campaign, Free Battle, Online Mode for 2 vs. 2 battles, and a Gallery Mode with an illustrated guide to all the J-Stars along with their voice samples and fighting patterns.

The PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita game will arrive on March 19. A regular copy of the PS3 version will cost 7,980 yen (about US$80), while a limited edition will cost 10,980 yen (about US$110). The normal edition of the PS Vita version will cost 6,980 yen, while a limited edition copy will retail for 9,980 yen (about US$100). A free augmented-reality (AR) app lets you see the Jump heroes in your surroundings on the PS Vita.

People who pre-order the game will receive the J-Stars Victory Book, a volume bound like a Jump Comics book and filled with information and visuals of Jump heroes over the years. For a limited time, a "Ani-Son Sound Edition" of the game will let players listen to 21 television anime theme songs in the game.
