Haikyu!! Volleyball Anime's 2 New Promos Preview Theme Songs

posted on by Sarah Nelkin
Volleyball anime adapting Haruichi Furudate's manga premieres on April 6

The official website for the anime adaptation of Haruichi Furudate's Haikyu!! volleyball manga is currently streaming two new 30-second promotional videos for the anime. The videos featuring the anime's opening and ending themes “Imagination” by SPYAIR and “Tenchi Gaeshi” by NICO TOUCHES THE WALLS.

In the first promotional video, Hinata says, "I'll jump anywhere. I'll hit any ball! Toss it to me! Bring it!" In the second video, Daichi Sawamura (Satoshi Hino) says that although Hinata and Kageyama fight, when their talents are put together, the effects will be explosive.

The story of the anime follows Shōyō Hinata (voiced by Ayumu Murase), who began playing volleyball after seeing the "small giants" who played the sport when he was in elementary school. He suffers a crushing defeat in his first and last tournament in middle school at the hands of his rival Tobio Kageyama (Kaito Ishikawa). So, Hinata joins Kurasuno High School's volleyball team, vowing revenge against Kageyama.

However, Kageyama is also on Kurasuno's team. The former rivals form a legendary combo with Hinata's mobility and Kageyama's precision ball-handling. Together, they take on the local tournaments and vow to meet Kurasuno's fated rival school in the nationals.

Susumu Mitsunaka will direct the series off of scripts by Taku Kishimoto. Takahiro Kishida will design the characters and Production I.G will handle the animation.

Sentai Filmworks has licensed the series for North American digital and home video release.

The anime will premiere on April 6.
