PS Vita action game about firefly guiding a little girl ships on June 19

Nippon Ichi Software began streaming the first narrated movie on Sunday for its htoL#NiQ -Hotaru no Nikki- PlayStation Vita action game.

Voice actress Maaya Sakamoto narrates the video, which gives an overview of the game's main plot:

On December 31 of the year 9999, in the hail of rubble, at the bottom of the bottom of some gloomy ruins, inside a cabin that looks on the verge of collapsing, Mion awakened. Mion didn't know anything about where she was or why she was in a place like this, and she felt lost and shaken.

When she discovered my figure, she felt something nostalgic. Relieved, she came toward me. I will take her out of this place. Outside of the cabin is a merciless world, and Mion is soon crushed in the shadows of the rubble. But I can purify the shadows. I guide Mion higher and higher. Because I have a reason to guide this child...

In the game, the player plays as Hotaru, a firefly who finds a girl named Mion at the bottom of an abandoned ruin in a cabin that is on the verge of collapsing. Mion has just woken up, and has lost all her memories. Hotaru then works to guide Mion to the outside world. However, there are actually two Hotarus: a "common firefly" version and another "shadow firefly" version. Players can change between the two by using the back touchscreen. When using the "shadow firefly" ability, players are able to traverse the shadow world.

The company plans to ship the game on June 19. A first edition limited premium box version of the 2D action game will retail for 6,264 yen (about US$61), and a downloadable edition will retail for 3,086 yen (US$30). The game will not have a physical standard edition. The premium box will come with a visual artbook with game illustrations and image boards, as well as a soundtrack CD. CERO has rated the game D for ages 17 and older.
