Film will open in 3D, 2D, & at IMAX theaters on May 16

Godzilla remake director Gareth Edwards and writer Max Borenstein talked about their approach to the film's titular monster in an interview with IGN at WonderCon last weekend. Edwards remarks the scariness of the remake, and the original film's roots in as a nuclear war metaphor.

Two new commercials for the remake debuted this past week. The two videos show more scenes from Elizabeth Olsen's character's perspective.

For comparison, here is the second set of full and teaser trailers in Japan:

A new poster also debuted to promote the IMAX release of the film:

Attendees of California's WonderCon Anaheim saw an exclusive extended clip from the film on Saturday. That clip showed the events leading up to the devastating tsunami scene seen in the earlier trailers, and it also confirmed that humans have more to worry about than just Godzilla.

The film's cast lineup includes Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Elizabeth Olsen, Ken Watanabe, David Strathairn, Bryan Cranston, Richard T. Jones, Juliette Binoche, and Sally Hawkins. The film will open in 3D, 2D, and at IMAX theaters on May 16.
