Holy Holy Manga Delayed Due to Korean Ferry Sinking

posted on by Karen Ressler
Series about girls stranded on an island after a shipwreck premiered in November

The representative director of manga publisher Earth Star Entertainment announced on Friday that the first volume of Kiku Sugawara's Holy Holy manga series, which was slated to ship in Japan on May 12, has been postponed indefinitely because the series depicts images reminiscent of the recent sinking of the South Korean passenger ferry.

Holy Holy began serialization in Monthly Comic Earth Star last November. The series follows the story of a group of female students from a Christian school who are stranded on an uninhabited island after a shipwreck. There they battle mysterious creatures.

A South Korean ferry sank off the southern coast of South Korea last Wednesday. Of the 462 passengers, including 325 high school students, 185 have been confirmed dead and 117 remain missing.

A Pokémon XY episode about a ship's sinking was also delayed.
