Madman Entertainment Acquires Tokyo Ghoul

Madman Entertainment made the announcement at the end of their Sydney heats of the Madman National Cosplay Championships during Supanova Pop Culture Expo Sydney. Tokyo Ghoul will be simulcast in July alongside the Japanese broadcast on AnimeLab.com.

In modern day Tokyo, society lives in fear of ‘Ghouls’, mysterious creatures that look exactly like humans, yet hunger insatiably for their flesh. None of this matters to Ken Kaneki, a bookish and ordinary young man, until a dark and violent encounter turns him into the first ever ‘Ghoul’/human half-breed. Trapped between two worlds, Ken must survive the violent conflicts of warring Ghoul factions while attempting to learn more about Ghoul society, his newfound powers, and the fine line between man and monster.
Tokyo Ghoul is based on the Manga by Sui Ishida that has been serialised in Shueisha's Weekly Young Jump since September 2011, 11 volumes have been released to date. Shuhei Morita (Freedom, Kakurenbo), the Oscar-nominated director of the "Possessions" ("Tsukumo") short, is helming this anime at Pierrot. Kazuhiro Miwa (animation director on EUREKA SEVEN AO, Gosick, Heroman) is designing the characters, and playwright Chūji Mikasano (LDK) is supervising and writing the scripts. Noboru Haraguchi (Heroman, Gosick) is the sound director, and Yutaka Yamada (live-action Marumo no Okite, Hunter ~Sono Onna-tachi, Shōkinkasegi~) is composing the music.
The vocalist TK from Ling Tosite Sigure will perform the opening theme "Unravel," his debut solo single, and the band People in the Box will perform the ending theme "Seijatachi" (Saints).
The series will premiere on July 3 at midnight (effectively July 4) on Tokyo MX and also air on TV Osaka, TV Aichi, TVQ Kyushu Broadcast, and BS Dlife. Funimation previously announced simulcast and home video rights for North America. You can view the trailer and the key art here.
