Maria Holic Cross-Dressing Manga to End in November

Minari Endo's 8-year-long romantic comedy inspired 2 TV anime

The December issue of Media Factory's Monthly Comic Alive magazine is announcing on Monday that Minari Endo will end her Maria Holic manga's eight-year run in the following issue on November 27. Media Factory will publish the 14th and final compiled book volume on January 23, 2015. The final volume will have a special commemorative edition that will bundle a booklet of illustrations by special guest artists. Media Factory will also release an art book, tentatively titled Maria Holic Gashū (Maria Holic Art Collection). The official Comic Alive blog will reveal more details later.

The manga begins with high school second-year student Kanako, who enrolls in an all-girls school because she has a phobia of men and wants to find her destined yuri partner. She meets a captivating first-year student named Mariya who fits her criteria — except her seemingly ideal mate happens to be a cross-dressing sadistic boy.

Minari Endo launched the manga in Monthly Comic Alive's inaugural issue in 2006, and Tokyopop published the beginning of the manga in North America. The story inspired two television anime in 2009 and 2011, and Sentai Filmworks licensed both.
