Tomoko Konparu (Kimi ni Todoke - From Me to You, Nodame Cantabile) is again in charge of series composition. Mitsue Mori (Chiko, Heiress of the Phantom Thief, Sound of the Sky) is returning as chief animation director and character designer, adapting Chinatsu Kurahana's original character designs. Elements Garden (Bodacious Space Pirates, You and Me.) is again composing the music.

The anime adapts a dating simulation video game for female players developed by Broccoli. In the slapstick romantic comedy, the female protagonist goes to a school for the performing arts with boys who are budding idols.

The original Uta no Prince-sama - Maji Love 1000% anime aired in Japan in July 2011, and ended in the September of that year. Niconico streamed that series outside of Japan as it aired. Uta no Prince-sama - Maji Love 2000%, the second series, premiered in Japan in 2013, and Crunchyroll streamed the series outside of Japan as it aired.

Sentai Filmworks licensed the first and second anime series and released them on DVD and Blu-ray Disc in North America this year.
