Hajime no Ippo Boxing PS3 Game's 2nd Promo Shows Manga-Style Action, Cutscenes

Game inspired by George Morikawa's boxing manga ships in Japan in December

Bandai Namco Games began streaming a second promotional video on Friday for the Hajime no Ippo: The Fighting! PlayStation 3 game based on George Morikawa's Hajime no Ippo boxing manga. The game is commemorating the 25th anniversary of the franchise. The video shows off the game's manga-style cutscenes, as well as the comic action.

The game will feature many familiar boxers from Morikawa's manga, and the game will recreate some of the manga's most famous scenes with full voicing. As players progress through the game, they will be able to unlock scenes that weren't in the original manga. The game's central story will revolve around Ippo Makunouchi (played by Kohei Kiyasu) and Ichirō Miyata (played by Tomokazu Seki). However, in the game, the player can play as one of approximately 20 boxers.

The game will ship in Japan on December 11 for the price of 7,600 yen (about US$76), and first copies of the game will come bundled with a product code to download four new costumes: a down-hair version for Takamura, an electric battery hair version for Kimura, a Block Man version for Aoki, and finally, a long-haired version for Date.
