Manga creator Yoshikazu Amami announced on Thursday that he will draw the five-page prologue for his new Battle Spirits Burning Soul series in the March issue of Shueisha's Saikyō Jump magazine. The issue will go on sale on February 6.

Sunrise announced the seventh Battle Spirits anime in December, and revealed that Sket Dance manga creator Kenta Shinohara is drafting the original character designs. Sunrise then unveiled the title, Battle Spirits Burning Soul, and key art (pictured below) this month. The series will premiere in April on TV Tokyo 6 Net and BS Japan.

The Battle Spirits anime franchise launched with the 50-episode Battle Spirits: Shōnen Toppa Bashin series on September 7, 2008. The anime adapted Bandai's original trading card game, in which cards represent dragons, demons, birds, insects, and other spirits that the players can control in battles. Bandai imported the game to America in 2009.

The Battle Spirits: Shōnen Gekiha Dan follow-up series premiered on September 13, 2009. Battle Spirits: Brave, the third Battle Spirits television anime series, then debuted in Japan in September of 2010. The fourth series, Battle Spirits: Heroes, launched in September 2011, and the fifth series, Battle Spirits: Sword Eyes, followed in September 2012.

The last Battle Spirits television anime, Battle Spirits Saikyō Ginga Ultimate Zero, ended in September. Currently, for the first time since 2008, there is no new Battle Spirits anime airing in Japan.

Amami also drew the battle action manga Bōkoku no Siegfried (Das Nibelungenlied) in Kodansha's Monthly Shōnen Rival magazine.
