Gaki Tsugano ends manga about rival teen manga creators

Gaku Tsugano ended the Mangaya manga series in the March issue of Kadokawa Shoten's Monthly Shōnen Ace magazine on Monday. Kadokawa will publish the second and final compiled book volume on March 26.

Tsugano began the manga last June, and Kadokawa shipped the first book volume last November. The story begins when second-year high school student Kei Kagasaki dreams of becoming a manga creator. The day after he successfully submits a manuscript to publisher Sumikawa Shoten, his classmate Aya issues a challenge to him to see which of them can sell 10 million manga volumes first.

Tsugano drew the 2005 manga adaptation of Nagaru Tanigawa's The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya light novel series. Yen Press licensed and published the manga in North America. Tsugano also drew A Girl Who Runs Through Time manga in 2004, which was licensed and published by the now-defunct CMX Manga imprint of DC Comics.
