Sword Art Online Lost Song's Gameplay Video, PS4 Prospects Unveiled

Game will feature 20-30 hours of gameplay; character-specific episodes

Sword Art Online Lost Song producer Yōsuke Futami and theme song performer Eir Aoi appeared at Taiwan's Taipei Game Show on January 28 to talk about the game. In an interview with Dengeki Online, Futami said he would like to try a PlayStation 4 release, in addition to the previously planned PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita releases.

Futami also said that there would be 20 to 30 hours of gameplay. There will not be specific endings for each character, but it will include special, character-specific episodes.

On multiplayer, Futami said that five to ten multiplayer quests will be available from the onset of the game, and that completing quests in story mode will increase the areas and quests available in multiplayer mode.

Finally, Futami announced that that the game's theme songs, by Eir Aoi and Luna Haruna, will be motifs for the new heroines Rain and Seven, but he cannot yet announce which song will go with which heroine.

The game will introduce several new characters, including:


Rain, a girl who hides honed battle skills behind her lovely expression. She's chasing around Kirito and his friends for some reason. A girl with many mysteries. Voiced by Miyu Takagi (Wake Up, Girls!)


Seven, a girl who sports a young look within the game, but is in fact a genius Russian scientist. She is researching virtual reality, and is considered "the light" compared to Akihiko Kayaba. She is the guild leader of "Shamrock," and her appearance is similar to that of her real life one. Seven is voiced by Hisako Kanemoto (Sailor Moon Crystal, Gingitsune).


Sumeragi, the active leader of the guild "Shamrock," and the knight who protects Seven. He is extremely powerful. Sumeragi is voiced by Ryōta Takeuchi (Sengoku Musou, High School DxD New).

The game is set in the continent of Svart Alfheim, with the flying city of LINE at its center. Here, the player can prepare and decide on their party and set out on quests.

Bandai Namco Games will release its Sword Art Online: Lost Song PlayStation 3 and PS Vita game in Japan on March 26. The PS3 version will cost 7,120 yen (about US$66) and the PS Vita version will cost 6,170 yen (US$57). A limited edition that includes box art by abec, an original soundtrack CD, a Blu-ray Disc with special content, a mini-clear poster, a special booklet, and serial code for Rain in the Sword Art Online Code Register smartphone game will cost 9,980 yen (US$92). The company is also localizing the game in English and Chinese for Asian markets.

Bandai Namco first announced the game's development at the 2014 Tokyo Game Show stage event on September 19. Reki Kawahara's Sword Art Online light novel series already inspired the Sword Art Online -Infinity Moment- and Sword Art Online -Hollow Fragment- games for the PlayStation Vita system. The light novels also inspired two television anime series.
