Sword Art Online: Lost Song PS3/PS Vita Game's 'Light,' 'Darkness' Spots Aired

Luna Haruna, Eir Aoi perform theme songs for March game from Bandai Namco Games

Bandai Namco Games began airing two new TV spots in Japan for its upcoming Sword Art Online: Lost Song PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita game this week. The commercials titled “Light” and “Darkness” feature the game's theme songs: “Yoru no Niji o Koete” (Cross the Night Rainbow) by Luna Haruna and “Sincere no Hikari” (Light of Sincerity) by Eir Aoi, respectively.

Text: The song that wishes for all peace
Kirito: Cloud... brain?
Seven: Yeah. That's what I'm acting as.
Girl: Where did you get that information?
Text: Is something that the game world absolutely does not wish for.
Girl: It's not a lie or anything!
Leafa: If you don't hurry up, I'll leave you behind!
Kirito: OK, time to go on to the next one!
Rain: Yeah! Just leave it to me, the one and only Rain!
Kirito: It's a new mode of dueling... An all-or-nothing battle.
Asuna: Isn't that ruining the balance of the game!?
Sumeragi: That is Lady Seven's wish.

The game has three new, original characters:

Rain, a girl who hides honed battle skills behind her lovely expression. She's chasing around Kirito and his friends for some reason. A girl with many mysteries. Voiced by Miyu Takagi (Wake Up, Girls!)

Seven, a girl who sports a young look within the game, but is in fact a genius Russian scientist. She is researching virtual reality, and is considered "the light" compared to Akihiko Kayaba. She is the guild leader of "Shamrock," and her appearance is similar to that of her real life one. Seven is voiced by Hisako Kanemoto (Sailor Moon Crystal, Gingitsune).

Sumeragi, the active leader of the guild "Shamrock," and the knight who protects Seven. He is extremely powerful. Sumeragi is voiced by Ryōta Takeuchi (Sengoku Musou, High School DxD New).

Kadokawa's Dengeki PlayStation magazine confirmed in November that Sword Art Online: Hollow Fragment's Philia (voiced by Yui Ishikawa) will appear in the game. Philia first appeared in the Hollow Area of the earlier Sword Art Online: Hollow Fragment game that shipped last year.

Bandai Namco Games is localizing the game in English and Chinese for Asian markets. Bandai Namco Games' Yōsuke Futami said that Lost Song's English translation will be better than Sword Art Online: Hollow Fragment.

Sword Art Online: Lost Song's PlayStation 3 version will cost 7,120 yen (about US$66), and the PlayStation Vita version will cost 6,170 yen (US$57). A limited edition that includes box art by abec, an original soundtrack CD, a Blu-ray Disc with special content, a mini-clear poster, and a special booklet will retail at 9,980 yen (US$92). The game will ship in Japan on March 26.

Bandai Namco Games unveiled the game's development at the 2014 Tokyo Game Show stage event on September 19. Reki Kawahara's Sword Art Online light novel series already inspired the Sword Art Online: Infinity Moment and Sword Art Online: Hollow Fragment games for the PlayStation Vita system. The light novels also inspired two television anime series.
