Kana Hanazawa Inspires High Schoolers in 4°C's 'Turnover' Anime Short

The educational company Benesse is streaming "Turnover," an anime short aimed at high school students exploring their future careers. Voice actress Kana Hanazawa plays Chizuru Yamazaki, a second-year high school student who has aspired to be a veterinarian since she was little. Hanazawa also posted a message to high school students on the anime's website.
The story centers around Chizuru, who moved from Yamaguchi to Tokyo, and cannot keep up with the pace of her studies. Losing sight of her dream because of discouraging marks in practice exams, she talks to her former classmate Shōta, and slowly begins changing the way she studies.
The short features a cover of the song "Funny Bunny" by the band The Pillows, with vocals by Luna Goami.
A three-part manga, which serves as a prequel to the short and expands the story of Chizuru and Shōta, is available on the site for free.
Hiroyuki Kagura plays Shōta, Miho Miyagawa plays Sakurai-sensei, and Sayaka Senbongi plays Ai.
Takuma Sakamoto (Tekkonkinkreet CGI director) served as director, storyboarder, and CGI director at Studio 4°C. Manabu Akita directed the animation and designed the characters. Tooru Hishiyama served as art director. Miyuki Itou was the color key artist. Yasuyuki Konno and Swara Production provided the sound effects work, while Yukihiri Oishi handled the sound recording. The key animators for the short were Jiro Kanai, Miki Kurihara, Kōichirō Kawano, Kanako Hiroo, Satoru Kusuda, and Ayano Shimizu.
Shinken Zemi Kōkō Kōza, Benesse's correspondence course that helps middle schoolers get into the high school of their choice, already produced a 2012 anime short, which was available exclusively on a DVD from the correspondence program.
