Udon Entertainment Licenses Persona 4's Main Manga

1st volume in September; publisher also unveils Comic-Con exclusives

North American publisher Udon Entertainment announced that it licensed Shuji Sogabe's manga adaptation of the Atlus role-playing game Persona 4. The publisher will ship the first bimonthly volume in September

Udon describes the story:

When the small rural town of Inaba suddenly becomes the scene of a series of grisly murders, an eclectic group of high school students forms an investigation team to uncover the truth behind them and prevent more deaths. But when they discover that the murders might be connected to an urban legend about a paranormal television phenomenon called the “Midnight Channel,” a simple investigation turns into a dangerous, action-packed journey of self-discovery across two different worlds. Along the way, dark truths will shake our heroes to their very core – and help them discover an inner strength they never knew they had!

Sogabe launched the manga in ASCII Media Works' Dengeki Black Maoh magazine in 2008, the same year that the game debuted. Kadokawa (ASCII Media Works) will publish the 10th compiled book volume of the manga in July. Sogabe also draws the Persona 3 game's manga adaptation, which is being teased as ending soon.

The original Persona 4 game has since spawned a remake, three game spinoffs, two television anime, and a compilation anime film.

CAPCOM also unveiled the first round of exclusives that it is planning for Comic-Con International 2015 next month: the special convention edition hardcover of CAPCOM Fighting Tribute with cover art by Long Vo, and the hardcover book Street Fighter V: The Life and Death(s) of Charlie Nash.
