IA/VT -Colorful- Game Producer: 'A Lot of Difficulties Involved' in Western Release

Kenichirō Takaki recommends overseas players import rhythm game

In an interview with video game news website Siliconera that the site posted on Friday, IA/VT -Colorful- game producer Kenichirō Takaki discussed the difficulties with releasing the game overseas.

Takaki said in the interview, "If it were possible, I'd love to bring it over, but there are a lot of difficulties involved in that process. Now, that said, there's no reason why you can't import it." He added that because the game is a music title, there are "more doors to knock on and more approvals to get" in order to release the game overseas.

When Siliconera asked Takaki to confirm that if players in the West wanted to play the game they would have to import it, Takaki replied, "Yes, I believe that that's the case."

Takaki also serves as the original creator and the producer for the Senran Kagura video game franchise.

Marvelous Entertainment will release the IA/VT -Colorful- (Ia Visual Tracks Colorful) PlayStation Vita game in Japan on July 30. The game centers around the virtual diva "Ia" and features more than 60 songs from popular Vocaloid music composers. The game also includes original animated music videos for some songs including "Overslept," "Children Record," "Crystal Prism," "Ayano no Koufuku Riron," "Lost Time Memory," "Headphone Actor," "Love Sagittarius," and "Pageant." Players can choose to play with an original music video, a music video that has been featured on a video website, or a colorful stage in the background. The game also has the option to dress up Ia in a variety of outfits when playing on the stage.

The game will retail for 4,800 yen (about US$39), and the limited edition will retail for 9,240 yen (about US$75). The limited edition "Crystal BOX" will feature a pouch, a PS Vita skin sticker, decorative stickers, a cleaner cloth, a strap, a charm strap, and a card case.
