The Unlimited - Hyōbu Kyōsuke Manga Ends

Ōgaki also drawing Hōrōsha spinoff manga

The September issue of Shogakukan's Shōnen Sunday S magazine published the final chapter of Rokurou Ōgaki's The Unlimited - Hyōbu Kyōsuke manga on Saturday. The magazine also notes that Shogakukan will publish the manga's sixth and final compiled book volume on September 18. The manga adapts The Unlimited - Hyōbu Kyōsuke television anime spinoff of Takashi Shiina's Zettai Karen Children manga.

The magazine previously announced in April that the manga would end in May.

Sentai Filmworks, which has licensed and released the original anime, describes the series:

You don't have to be psychic to know that Hyobu Kyosuke is trouble waiting to happen, but having psychic powers of your own may be your only chance if you want to stand against him. One of the most powerful espers on the planet, Hyobu's incredible range of abilities extends as far as controlling his own aging process, and the potential strength of all his talents combined is so terrifying that he wears a device that limits their use except in cases of extreme emergency. The time is coming, however, when Hyobu will need to unleash everything he has. Because sometimes it takes a villain to do what heroes can't, and as the leader of the secret organization P.A.N.D.R.A., Hyobu's dedicated his life to fighting those who would entrap, enslave, or kill anyone with psychic powers. Now P.A.N.D.R.A. itself is in danger and, to combat that deadly threat, the gloves and limiter are coming off!

Ōgaki draws the art for the manga, which launched in March 2013. Shogakukan published the fifth compiled volume in Japan on July 17.

Ōgaki is also drawing Hōrōsha (Wanderer), a spinoff manga of The Unlimited - Hyōbu Kyōsuke that is scripted by Zettai Karen Children and The Unlimited - Hyōbu Kyōsuke writer Shinichi Inotsume. They launched that spinoff in Shōnen Sunday S on June 25. Shiina is supervising this manga, which tells a completely original story from the original Zettai Karen Children manga and its anime spinoff.

Shiina's Zettai Karen Children sci-fi comedy series began in Shonen Sunday in 2005. Shogakukan published the 41st compiled book volume of the manga on March 18. The manga entered its final arc last August. The manga was adapted into a 52-episode television anime series in 2008, as well as a 2010 original video anime. Sentai Filmworks released the TV anime in North America in 2012 under the title Psychic Squad.

The Unlimited - Hyōbu Kyōsuke anime spinoff focusing on series antagonist Kyōsuke Hyōbu premiered in 2013, and Crunchyroll streamed the series as it aired in Japan. Sentai Filmworks acquired the anime last December, and released it on Blu-ray and DVD in North America on April 21 under the title Unlimited Psychic Squad.
