Crunchyroll to Stream HackaDoll, Lovely Muuuuuuuco! Anime

posted on by Egan Loo
Both anime shorts to debut on Friday

Media service Crunchyroll announced on Wednesday that it will stream the television anime shorts Hacka Doll the Animation and Lovely Muuuuuuuco! Hacka Doll the Animation will premiere on Friday, October 2 at 11:30 a.m. EDT worldwide except for Asia. Lovely Muuuuuuuco! will start on Friday, October 2 at 9:30 p.m. EDT in the United States, Canada, Central and South America (including the Caribbean), South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Europe, the Middle East, and North Africa.

The original Hacka Doll app delivers a customized feed of news for each user. The user answers some simple questions when launching the app for the first time, and then the app will filter the news that caters to the user's personal interests — boys love (BL), cosplay, anime, manga, games, light novels, voice cast members, and more. With daily use, the app automatically analyzes and learns which news articles the user reads and recommends to further personalize the feed.

The anime personifies the app's customization engine as three "Hacka Dolls" — the personal entertainment AI and main navigator Hacka Doll #1 (played by Miyu Takagi), the anime expert Hacka Doll #2 (Kaya Okuno), and the knowledgeable otaku Hacka Doll #3 (Nanami Yamashita).

Ikuo Geso (Kill la Kill key animator) is directing the anime and serving as character designer at Ceators in Pack. Studio Trigger's Yū Satō (Ninja Slayer From Animation) is writing the scripts, and Kanato Maizawa is handling the series composition. Studio Trigger (Kill la Kill, Ninja Slayer From Animation) will collaborate on the animation. DIVE II Entertainment is handling sound production. Each episode will be 10 minutes long.

The third anime based on Takayuki Mizushina's Itoshi no Muco (Lovely Muco!) manga depicts the life of the pet dog Muco and his owner Komatsu, who lives in his glass-making workshop in the mountains.

The cast includes:

Shinichi Tanioka played Komatsu-san in the previous two series, and Mizuki Sano played Ushikō-san.

Komatsu and Text: In a certain town, in a certain glass-making workshop,
Komatsu: There lives a certain dog. Yes, it's almost here.
Muco: It's almost here! The cheerful and exciting everyday life of Muco and my beloved Komatsu is about to begin!
Komatsu: Hey, Muco!
Muco: I'll pull the loose threads on the towel, and get patted by Komatsu!
Muco: The new series Itoshi no Muco will begin at these times. Everyone, be sure to wa—
Komatsu: I told you not to pull the loose threads on the towel!

The manga already inspired two seasons of the Lovely Movie: Itoshi no Muco anime shorts on Fuji TV. The first season ran for 21 episodes from July to December 2013, and the second season ran for 22 episodes from April to October last year. Takenori Mihara helmed both seasons in Douga Kubo.

Mizushina launched the manga in Kodansha's Evening magazine in 2011. The manga ranked #6 on the 2013 list of "Top 15 Recommended Manga by Bookstores." Mizushina's earlier four-panel manga Kemono to Chat also inspired an anime.
