Manga, about boy with no superpowers in world where powers are normal, launched in 2014

The official Twitter account of Kōhei Horikoshi's My Hero Academia (Boku no Hero Academia) manga posted a picture on Tuesday that said that a television anime adaptation has been green-lit. The Twitter account later removed the post.

This year's 48th issue of Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine revealed on Monday that the 49th issue will have a "super super super important announcement" on November 2. The announcement will be featured on an opening color page.

The domain name 'HeroAca.com' was registered under the name of TOHO Ad, the advertising company of the TOHO Group, on October 20.

Horikoshi launched his My Hero Academia superhero manga series in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump in July 2014. The manga's story is set in the modern day, except people with special powers have become commonplace throughout the world. A boy named Izuku Midoriya has no powers, but he still dreams of becoming a Hero.

The manga's first compiled book volume ranked on Oricon's chart of the top ten best selling graphic novels in Japan in its first week of release. Shueisha shipped the manga's fifth volume on August 4. The company will ship the sixth volume on November 4.

Viz Media is releasing the manga in English digitally as Shueisha publishes new chapters in Japan. The company also published the first volume in print on August 4.

The 46th issue of Weekly Shonen Jump had announced the results of the manga's first character popularity poll on October 12. Viz Media revealed those results and the results of its own poll in its digital Weekly Shonen Jump magazine on the same day.
