Mysterious Joker New Anime's Promo Video Previews New Rival Character

posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins
Show's "3rd & 4th Season" will premiere on April 4

Tokyo MX's official website for the Mysterious Joker TV anime series began streaming a promotional video on Saturday for the new series, which is slated to premiere on April 4. The new series, titled Mysterious Joker Season 3 (Kaitō Joker Season 3), is being billed as the "third and fourth season" of the anime.

The video previews the show's returning characters, and introduces a new rival character: Phoenix (pictured left in image below), a Southern Cross messenger who can manipulate flames. He is a mysterious boy who suddenly appears in front of Joker. Phoenix attacks Joker as Joker is trying to find the mysterious creature Hosshii (pictured right in image below), but his true intentions are unknown.

The show's staff has also released five new key visuals for the series.

Yukiyo Teramoto will direct the series, with series composition by Dai Sato. Miho Shimogasa is designing the characters, and Yūsaku Tsuchiya is composing the music.

The Kaitō Joker Jōei Matsuri event will take place over five days on February 6, 7, 14, 21, and 28. The event will screen four compilations of episodes from the series' two seasons. The "Subarashiki Kaitō Nakama-hen" episodes will screen on February 6 and 7, the "Osoru Beki Rival-hen" episodes will screen on February 14, the "Yukai Tsūkai! Bakushō-hen" episodes will screen on February 21, and the "Kisōtengai! Trick-hen" episodes will screen on February 28.

In Hideyasu Takahashi's Kaitō Joker (Mysterious Joker) manga that inspired the anime, there is nothing in the world that the mysterious phantom thief Joker cannot steal. He goes after one treasure after another in unpredictable capers with seemingly miraculous tricks.

The first television anime series premiered in October 2014, and the second series premiered in April 2015. Crunchyroll streamed both the anime series (under the title Joker) into several countries as they aired in Japan.

Takahashi began the manga in Shogakukan's Bessatsu Coro Coro Comic magazine in 2007, although it then moved to the main Monthly CoroCoro Comic magazine. The manga won the children's category of the 58th Shogakukan Manga Awards in 2013.
