Tokyo Twins Athletic Tournament CG Anime Shorts to Stream Online This Fall

Japanese companies Ripromo Co., Ltd. and CREi Inc. have launched a website in both Japanese and English for a series of CG anime shorts titled Tokyo Twins Athletic Tournament (Tokyo Futago Athletic) that will premiere online this fall. The series will have eight episodes, with each episode being six minutes long. The companies began streaming a subtitled trailer for the series in March, and exhibited the anime at Anime Japan in the same month.

The official website describes the series as follows:

Having cleared the preliminaries, twenty-four pairs of twins face gargantuan challenges on an enormous athletic field. On this man-made island in Tokyo Bay, the bonds between twins are pushed to the limit in the Ultimate Athletic Tournament!

The tournament consists of three insanely difficult obstacle courses. Teamwork and human drama are forged within these grueling challenges.

Participants are limited to twins, but exactly what constitutes a "twin" is unclear, resulting in some unusual pairings. In the past, controversial appearances have included clones, adopted siblings, or triplets in shifts.

The show revealed its main cast on June 7. The series will star Murotsuyoshi as the analyst and Tōru Nara as the commentator. Audience cast members include: Satoshi Tanaka, Yusuke Sasamura, Nekotora, Kanan Komaki, Mai Ujita, Shota Miyamoto, Yuta Aita, Ryota Chiba, Kensuke Okubo, Mitsuto Osawa, Yuki Izawa, Ryō Satō, Yūya Satō, Aimi Miyakawa, Chihiro Kubota, Shizuku Iizaka, Miyuki Kanno, Risa Nagano, Kanako Isawa, Mayu Konno, Yumi Ito, Nanami Ito, Sayaka Hirama, Erika Kon, and Yui Takahashi.

Meguru Saitō is directing and writing the series Ripromo Co., Ltd., and Kishi Kaisei is the CG director. Katano, Fuyunooni, and Amaashi Chikai are coordinating on the scripts. Scat Gotō is producing the music, and Kohrogi is performing the opening theme song.
