Reki Kawahara, Ichiro Okouchi, Akiyuki Simbo are shareholders with Kazuma Miki's company as a partner

Anime production company EGG FIRM announced on Wednesday that it is collaborating with light novel author Reki Kawahara (Sword Art Online, Accel World), scriptwriter Ichiro Okouchi (Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress, Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion), director Akiyuki Simbo (Puella Magi Madoka Magica, Monogatari series) to expand its capability for planning, producing, and animating anime projects. It is joining forces with the newly founded company Straight Edge of Kazuma Miki, Kadokawa's former Dengeki Bunko Editor-in-Chief. The collaboration names EGG FIRM president Nobuhiro Osawa as outside director of Straight Edge, and similarly names Miki as outside director of EGG FIRM.

Kawahara, Okouchi, and Simbo are all shareholders of the new company. Advertising firm Quaras and Bandai Namco Studios are also part of the collaboration.

Osawa (Sword Art Online, Prison School, Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? chief producer) founded EGG FIRM in 2015, and it is collaborating with J.C. Staff to animate The Disastrous Life of Saiki K. anime series as its first project. It is also producing the upcoming Accel World: Infinite Burst and Sword Art Online: Ordinal Scale anime films. Accel World: Infinite Burst opens in Japan on Saturday, July 23. Both films are based on light novel series by Kawahara.

EGG FIRM aims to be a "total producer" of anime projects, in particular projects and content involving Kawahara, Okouchi, and Simbo.

Miki (Shakugan no Shana, A Certain Magical Index, The Irregular at Magic High School, Oreimo) left Dengeki Bunko on March 31, and started Straight Edge on April 1. The new company's focus is on managing talent and producing content such as publications and animation. It counts Kawahara among its contracted writers, as well as Kazuma Kamachi (A Certain Magical Index, Heavy Object), Tsutomu Satou (The Irregular at Magic High School), and Tsukasa Fushimi (Oreimo, Eromanga Sensei).
