Magical Girl Raising Project Anime Reveals 4 New Cast Members in 4th Promo Video

Kikuko Inoue, Satomi Arai, Megumi Ogata, Rina Hidaka join anime premiering on October 2

The official website for the television anime of Asari Endō's Mahō Shōjo Ikusei Keikaku (Magical Girl Raising Project) "survival action" light novel series began streaming the anime's fourth promotional video on Thursday. The video reveals four new cast members for the anime.

[Note: The first video below cannot be viewed in the United States, Germany, Mexico, New Zealand, and Australia.]

The new cast members are:

Kikuko Inoue as Calamity Mary, a girl employed by gangs to help people for pay. She likes using violence to humiliate braggarts, the strong, the beautiful, the clever, and the overly self-confident. Her magical power is powering up things she holds onto as a weapon, even if they weren't weapons before.

Satomi Arai as Magicaloid 44, a girl-type robot and magical girl who always thinks pragmatically, and won't do things she doesn't want to do. She rarely appears in the exclusive chat channel for magical girls, and loves earning money. Her magical power is being able to use the 444,444,444 things that are "useful for the future," but only randomly, and only one of them per day.

Megumi Ogata as Cranberry, the Musician of the Forest, a member of a group of veteran magical girls. She loves music, and always plays her violin on the top of the hill in the magical girl chat program. She gives off the air of a mysterious elven hermit. Her magical power includes the ability to manipulate and generate sounds freely, as well as a keen sense of hearing.

Rina Hidaka as Hard Gore Alice, a quiet and expressionless girl. She always carries around a stuffed doll of a rabbit, and always seems to pursue Snow White. Her magical power is to heal any wound, no matter how severe, up to and including severed limbs.

The cast joins previously revealed cast members:

Nao Tōyama as the protagonist Snow White

Manami Numakura as Ripple

Ayane Sakura as La Pucell

Yumi Uchiyama as Top Speed

Kurumi Mamiya as Fav (the show's mascot character)

Yōko Hikasa as Ruler

Inori Minase as Swim Swim

Risae Matsuda as Minael, Yunael's twin sister (Minael and Yunael's voice actresses are twins in real life.)

Satsumi Matsuda as Yunael, Minael's twin sister

Asuka Nishi as Tama

Saori Hayami as Sister Nana

Yū Kobayashi as Weiss Winterprison

Yumiri Hanamori as Nemurin

The anime will premiere on the AT-X channel on October 1 at 24:00 (effectively, October 2 at midnight), before also running on Tokyo MX, BS11, and the GyaO! streaming service in Japan.

Hiroyuki Hashimoto (Is the order a rabbit?) is directing the anime at Lerche, with Takao Yoshioka (Elfen Lied, High School DxD, Your Lie in April) supervising and writing the scripts. Yukiko Aikei (Horizon in the Middle of Nowhere, Accel World, Your Lie in April) is designing the characters for animation.

Manami Numakura (the voice of Ripple in the anime) is performing the opening theme song "Sakebe" (Shout). Nano is performing the ending theme song "Dreamcatcher."

Endō's novels are set in a world where a social game called The Magical Girl Raising Project allows one in tens of thousands of people to be a "magical girl" — possessing extraordinary physical capabilities and looks, as well as special magical powers that set them apart from the rest of the human race. But one day, in a district containing 16 magical girls, the administration announces that it must halve the number of magical girls to solve the problem of magical energy. At first, the 16 magical girls race to collect more "magical candy" than their competitors, but the rules quickly become twisted, and it quickly becomes a murderous battle for survival among them.
