Kazuya Ichikawa directs comedy about polar bear who loves seal

The anime adaptation of Koromo's Koisuru Shirokuma (Polar Bear in Love) manga announced on Wednesday that Natsuki Hanae (The Disastrous Life of Saiki K.'s Reita, HaruChika's Shinjirō) will play Seal, and Yuichiro Umehara (Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans' Eugene, Nananin no Ayakashi's Guten) will play Polar Bear. The anime's official website describes the adaptation as a "petite anime."

Kazuya Ichikawa (Monster Strike, Tantei Team KZ Jiken Note) is directing the anime at the studio Gathering (Bananya, Donyatsu).

The anime's official website describes the story:

Polar Bear: You're a male, but I don't mind.
Seal: I care.
A polar bear (male) happens to become fond of a white seal (male).
Will his love be fulfilled?
In a world where the strong eat the weak, white love is spun!!

The original manga revolves around a polar bear who falls in love with an earless seal, and he wants nothing else except to protect him, even though the seal constantly thinks the bear will eat him.

Koromo launched the manga on the free manga app Comico in December 2014, and began serializing it in Monthly Comic Gene in June 2015. Kadokawa published the manga's second compiled book volume on August 27, and the third is slated to ship on March 27.
