Takumi Ōyama, Nokuto Koike work on tribute manga to be published in February

The February issue of Kodansha's Monthly Young Magazine revealed on Friday that Takumi Ōyama and Nokuto Koike will both draw tribute manga for DreamWorks and Paramount's live-action Ghost in the Shell film. Both manga will appear in the magazine's next issue on February 18.

Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex manga creator Yū Kinutani also drew a one-shot tribute manga for the film in the magazine last month. The February issue published three more tribute manga from Nobuaki Tadano, Yu Imai, and Masayuki Yamamoto.

Ōyama launched the Ghost in the Shell Arise: Nemuranai Me no Otoko: Sleepless Eye based on the Ghost in the Shell Arise anime in April 2013, and ended it last June. Kodansha published the manga's seventh and final compiled book volume last August.

Koike worked on the 6000 - Rokusen horror manga, which launched in Gentosha's Comic Birz magazine in 2010 and ended it in 2012. A live-action Hollywood adaptation of the film is in the works. He has also worked on the Mitsu no Shima manga, and collaborated as the artist with Ryukishi07 on the Hotaru-Bi no Tomoru Koro ni (When the Firefly Light Burns) manga.

Rupert Sanders (Snow White and the Huntsman) is directing the live-action Ghost in the Shell film, which stars Scarlett Johansson as the Major, and Pilou Asbæk (Lucy) as Batou. Michael Pitt (Boardwalk Empire) plays the Laughing Man. Director, comedian, and actor Beat Takeshi (also known as Takeshi Kitano) plays the Public Security Section 9 founder and chief Daisuke Aramaki.

The film opens in the United States on March 31, and in Japan on April 7.
