6th Natsume's Book of Friends Anime Has 11 Episodes, 2 OVAs

posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda
Series premieres on April 11

A flyer from this year's AnimeJapan 2017 event revealed on Thursday that Natsume Yūjin-Chō Roku, the planned sixth anime in the franchise based on Yuki Midorikawa's Natsume's Book of Friends (Natsume Yūjin-Chō) manga, will premiere on April 11.

The anime will have 11 episodes and 2 OVA episodes titled "Itsuka Yuki no Hi ni" and "Nyanko-sensei to Hajimete no Otsukai."

The flyer describes the anime's story:

Takashi Natsume has been adopted by kind-hearted Mr. and Mrs. Fujiwara, but has been running away from the Yokai (apparition) who chase after him. He tries to run away from them without being noticed by others around him, but one day, he cuts the rope around the small shrine. Out comes a Yokai in the figure of a beckoning cat. The Yokai's name is Madara, and learns that he is mistaking him for Reiko, and wants to have his name back. Within the belongings which were left from Reiko, there was a notebook named "Yujin-cho (friend list)", and some unreadable words written on it. Reiko was disliked by human beings, just like Natsume. From loneliness, she fought battles with challenging Yokai, and by winning the battle, she listed them as her followers. Understanding Reiko's feelings, Natsume decides to give the names back. It seemed like the thing he must do. By doing so, he felt the tie between him and his grandmother will bond, without having any other relatives. Natsume begs Madara to help him return the names, by giving the Yujin-cho to Madara when Natsume dies. Being amazed with his offer, Madara grants his wish. Think about the Yokai in the Yujin-cho and turn pages. Then the name will be selected automatically. Natsume blows his breath to the page, and the name returns to the Yokai. Then the feelings of the Yokai flows into Natsume, and understands its feelings. Everyone has a heart, humans and even Yokai.

Tomohisa Sakō (Blast of Tempest, Meganebu!) will perform the opening theme song "Floria," and Rei Yasuda (Ace Attorney, The irregular at magic high school) will perform the ending theme song "Kimi no Uta" (Your Song).

Natsume Yūjin-Chō Go, the fifth series, debuted in October and ended with its 11th episode in December. Crunchyroll streamed the series as it aired in Japan.
