M&C! Licenses Shaman King Manga

posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda
The Star on Which We Vow Our Love, Sky of Love, Idol Master -Legend- also licensed

Indonesian publisher M&C! announced on Tuesday that it has licensed Hiroyuki Takei's Shaman King, Ren Koizumi's The Star on Which We Vow Our Love, Rio Kimido's Sky of Love, and Kyō Nagiri's Idol Master - Legend manga. The publisher will begin releasing all four manga on May 17.

Shaman King centers on Yoh Asakura, a shaman with the ability to commune between the living and the dead. With his Guradian Ghost Amidamaru, Yoh aspires to win the Shaman Fight, a tournament held every 500 years to crown the Shaman King. The Shaman King is a shaman who can contact the Great Spirit to remake the world. In this great tournament, Yoh meets other shamans from other cultures and traditions, and also fights against a hidden force that seeks to usurp the tournament and the title of Shaman King for their own destructive ends.

The original manga began in 1998 and abruptly ended in Japan's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine in 2004, although a reprinting of the manga revealed a "true ending" in 2009. Takei drew a series of short stories titled Shaman King 0 in Shueisha's Jump X starting in November 2011, and published a sequel series titled Shaman King Flowers in the same magazine from 2012 to 2014. The Shaman King anime adaptation aired for 64 episodes between 2001-2002.

M&C! describes the The Star on Which We Vow Our Love (Sono Hoshi o Boku-tachi wa Koi to Yobu Koto ni Suru.) manga:

Mio was diagnosed with an incurable illness. She had one last wish: to see Naoto, the man she loved, playing the piano again. In order to make her wish come true, Naoto once more took to the stage, and his piano echoed sadly but beautifully.

Koizumi published the manga in Shogakukan's Sho-Comi magazine in 2013, and Shogakukan published the one compiled book volume in January 2014.

M&C! previously published Koizumi's Tears of Love - I Didn't Mean for It to Happen- and First Time of Love and Broken Heart last August and September, respectively.

M&C! describes the Sky of Love (Koizora Rarara) manga:

"The paper airplane that flew through the sky led me to my love and dreams. The spring of my youth began with that single piece of paper."

This is the story of how Sora got to know Ruka, the boy who returned the paper airplane that she let go from the window.

"I know I'm not number one in his eyes, but I want to tell him how I feel!"

The book collects three short stories that Kimido published in Shogakukan's Sho-Comi magazine from 2015 to 2016. The title story is two chapters long, and the book also has two other stories titled "Look at Me and Touch Me" (Kocchi, Muite, Sawatte) and "Spend the Holy Night With Me!" (Sei Naru Koi wa Watashi to Shinasai!). Shogakukan published the book last May.

M&C! previously published Kimido's Eden of Love manga last August.

M&C! describes the Idol Master - Legend manga:

Moka Usami is a regular high school student at Hoshigoe Gakuen. But apart from her, every single person in her class is a famous idol!

Now the three most popular idols in Moka's class will tell her how they feel about her. How will she react when she finds out?

Nagiri launched the Idol Master manga (no relation to Bandai Namco Entertainment's The IDOLM@STER multi-media franchise) in Shogakukan's Ciao Deluxe magazine in 2013, and ended it in 2014. Shogakukan published Idol Master - Legend in January 2015. M&C! previously published the previous two stories, Idol Master and Idol Master - Premium, in 2014 and 2015 respectively.
