'iMarine Project' Gets 'Deep Blue Song' Mini-Anime in July

Sanyo Bussan announced during the Nico Nico Chōkaigi event on April 29 that its "iMarine Project" will get a new mini-animation and music video as part of a new video project titled "Deep Blue Song." The mini-animation will debut in July, while the music video will debut in August, but both will be based on the same story.

The story centers on the everyday life of iMarine, a girl who delivers packages with her trusty vehicle Hoemaru. The story is set in Deep Blue Town, a town where people and sea creatures live together. At the center of the portion of the town above the water is a giant space elevator, and the sea people live in the portion of the town below the water.

The project's characters include:

Aya Uchida as iMarine, the main character. She is half human and half sea dweller, and can understand the language of the fish. She is innocent and loved by many in the town as a kind of idol. She has the kind of gentle personality that won't allow her to leave anyone alone if they're in trouble.

Ayane Sakura as Ūny, a half human, half sea dweller girl who treats iMarine like an older sister. She is an innocent girl who clings to iMarine constantly, and makes iMarine lunch every morning.

Maaya Uchida as Wendy, the daughter of the mayor and a human. She is an ordinary girl with a little bit of a rich-girl air. She constantly has a security detail around her, and can project a standoffish front. She follows iMarine around, despite her complaints about iMarine's flighty personality.

Kiyotaka Suzuki (Psycho-Pass 2) is directing the project at the new anime studio Revoroot, which was established last year. Keisuke Goto (Yatterman Night, Fate/Grand Order: First Order) is designing the characters. Keisuke Kojima (One-Punch Man key animation, ACCA: 13-Territory Inspection Dept. storyboards) is in charge of storyboards and is the unit director. Satoshi Takezawa (A Town Where You Live, Space Brothers) is in charge of color design.

Takayuki Tonegawa is writing and composing the music, and Kazuya Saka is arranging.

Sanyo Bussan's "iMarine Project" began in February 2015, and centers on the character iMarine, a new version of Sanyo Bussan's Marin from its Umi Monogatari pachinko and pachislot franchise. The iMarine Project already had three songs with music videos, including "Marine Dreamin'," "Marine Bloomin'," and "Dive to Blue." The original Umi Monogatari franchise already inspired a television anime of the same name in 2009. Nozomi Entertainment released the series on DVD in 2015. Crunchyroll is streaming the anime.
