Tomoki teaches diving from 10-meter board

The official website for the television anime of Eto Mori's youth novel series DIVE!! announced on Monday that Virtual Gate will run a virtual-reality experience for the anime beginning in July. In the "DIVE!! VR Lesson~Tomoki-hen" VR experience, Tomoki will give people diving lessons, and they will be able to experience diving from a 10-meter (about 33-foot) diving board.

Virtual Gate will also run its Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World- VR experience from June 16 to July 17, and its KING OF PRISM by PrettyRhythm experience from June 30 to July 31. The company is running FOVE's Sword Art Online experience that lets people meet Asuna until July 31.

The DIVE!! anime will premiere on July 6 at 12:55 a.m. (effectively July 7 morning) on Fuji TV's Noitamina block, and will stream exclusively on Amazon Prime Video in Japan and other countries. The first episode will premiere on Amazon Prime Video on July 5 at 12:00 a.m. (effectively July 6 morning), ahead of the TV airing, but every episode thereafter will begin streaming at 3:00 a.m. in the morning after the Noitamina airing.

Mori (Colorful original creator, screenplay for Black Jack OAV, Black Jack The Movie) wrote the original four-volume novel series between 2000 and 2002. The series revolves around the Mizuki Diving Club (MDC), which is on the verge of closing down after having financial troubles. The club's new coach persuades the club's parent company to stay open on one condition: that the club sends one of its members to next year's Olympics as part of Japan's Olympic team.

Kaoru Suzuki (Pupipō!, episode director for Hellsing TV, Battery the Animation, InuYasha) is directing the series at ZERO-G, and Touko Machida (Lucky Star, Endride, Wake Up, Girls!) is overseeing the scripts. Suzuhito Yasuda (Yozakura Quartet manga creator, character designer for Durarara!!, Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?) is handling the original character design, and Miyako Yatsu (Eyeshield 21: The Phantom Golden Bowl, Idaten Jump) is adapting the character designs for animation, and is also credited as the chief animation director. Yuuki Hayashi (Kiznaiver, My Hero Academia, Welcome to the Ballroom) is composing the music.

Mori's novel series previously inspired a live-action film adaptation in 2008. Masahiro Ikeno also drew a five-volume manga adaptation in 2007-2008.
