Fire Emblem: Fates characters join 3DS/Switch game

Nintendo revealed a new trailer for the Fire Emblem Warriors (Fire Emblem Musou) Nintendo 3DS and Switch game during its E3 press conference on Tuesday. The video reveals that female Corrin, Ryoma, and Xander from Fire Emblem: Fates will appear in the game.

Previously revealed characters include Marth (Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon and the Blade of Light ) and Chrom (Fire Emblem Awakening), as well as original characters Liane and Shion.

The game's story begins when, without warning, the Kingdom of Aitriss is enveloped in darkness, and an otherworldly gate appears within the castle. Powerful creatures overpower the castle guards. The castle soon falls, and the darkness slowly but surely encroaches upon the Kingdom. But there is hope, in the form of Shion and Liane, the prince and princess who escaped even as the castle burned. They possess a thread that ties together the destiny of heroes. Bearing the Shield of Fire granted to them by their mother, their journey to confront the powerful darkness begins.

The game is slated for release in Japan this fall, and in the West this holiday season.

Koei Tecmo Games, its Omega Force team, and its Team Ninja team are developing the game. Omega Force is a subsidiary of Koei Tecmo, and it develops Koei Tecmo's Musou (Warriors) series of games. The series is known for its action hack-and-slash gameplay where players control a character to fight hundreds of enemies at once.
