Project Rap Rabbit Rhythm Game's Kickstarter Fails to Reach Goal

posted on by Karen Ressler
No current plans to continue game from Parappa the Rapper, Gitaroo Man creators

NanaOn-Sha and iNiS' Kickstarter campaign for their Project Rap Rabbit rhythm game ended on Monday after earning only £162,057 (US$206,298) of its £855,000 (US$1,102,921) goal. The project had 2,920 backers.

The staff thanked backers for their support, and added that they hope to someday continue the project, but said it is "far too early" to say what's next. "We sadly are not in the position to be able to fund further production for a future crowd-funding relaunch involving a title deeper in development, and wouldn't want to scale back our vision," the staff message read. "As a result, work on Project Rap Rabbit cannot continue at this time."

The campaign was seeking to fund the game for PlayStation 4 and PC. Creative director Masaya Matsuura (Parappa the Rapper, Um Jammer Lammy, Vib-Ribbon) and Producer Keiichi Yano (Gitaroo Man, Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan) were collaborating on the game. UK-based game distribution company PQube would have published and distributed the game.
