My Hero Academia Anime Reveals Gran Torino's Character Design

posted on by Rai Kelly

The official website for the My Hero Academia anime revealed the animation character designs for Gran Torino on Friday. Gran Torino is a veteran who once taught All Might, but does not have much of a record as a professional hero. His Quirk, "Jet," allows him to shoot the air he breathes from his feet. He will make his first appearance in the second season's thirteenth episode, which premieres on Saturday.

The second season premiered in Japanese with English subtitles on Crunchyroll and Hulu on April 1, and FunimationNow is streaming the English dub. The anime is listed with 25 episodes. The new season has so far covered the U.A. Sports Festival arc of Kōhei Horikoshi's original manga.

The anime's first season of 13 episodes premiered on the MBS/TBS channel in April 2016. Funimation streamed the series in Japanese with English subtitles in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and Ireland as it aired in Japan. The company also streamed a broadcast dub.

Horikoshi's original manga also inspired an event anime that screened in Tokyo in November and then in four other Japanese cities in December. The anime shipped on DVD in Japan with a limited edition of the 13th volume the manga on April 4. A second OVA shipped on DVD in Japan with a limited edition of the 14th volume on June 2.
