San Francisco's J-Pop Summit to Host Singers May'n, Azumi Inoue, Yuyu

The organizers of the J-Pop Summit event in San Francisco announced last week that the event will host singers May'n, as well as singer Azumi Inoue and her daughter Yuyu.

May'n performed songs as the Macross Frontier anime's "Galactic Fairy" idol Sheryl Nome. Beyond her performances for Macross Frontier, May'n has performed theme songs for anime series including Accel World, Phi-Brain - Puzzle of God, Aria the Scarlet Ammo, Inari Kon Kon, and M3 - Sono Kuroki Hagane. She performed the opening theme song for the television anime series Aquarion Logos with composer Yoko Kanno, and also performed the opening theme song for the Taboo Tattoo anime, and the ending theme song for the Izetta: The Last Witch anime. She most recently reprised her role as the singing voice of Sheryl Nome with the new song "Gooorgeous," and collaborated with the Wake Up, Girls! group to perform the opening theme song for the Restaurant to Another World anime.

Inoue made her major debut as the theme song singer of Hayao Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli's Castle in the Sky anime film in 1986. She went on to perform for two more Miyazaki films, including the theme song for My Neighbor Totoro in 1988, and insert songs for Kiki's Delivery Service in 1989. He also performed the theme song for the Yadamon anime and the Before Green Gables anime. Her daughter Yuyu debuted in 2012, and has released five singles and two albums, with her latest release being her "Mittsu Oshiete" single in November 2015.

The other new guests announced include Kendama performers Zoomadanke, and dance performance group TOKYO GEGEGAY. Previously announced guests include BAND-MAID, Babyraids Japan, Misaki Iwasa, and YANAKIKU.

J-Pop Summit 2017 will take place on September 9-10 at the Fort Mason Center for Arts and Culture located in San Francisco.
