posted on by Alex Mateo
Manga launches on February 9

The February issue of Fujimi Shobo's Dragon Age magazine revealed on Tuesday that Akira Segami is launching a manga spinoff of Hiro Ainana and shri's Death March to the Parallel World Rhapsody (Death March Kara Hajimaru Isekai Kyōsōkyoku) light novel series in the next issue on February 9. The spinoff is a prequel titled Death March Kara Hajimaru Isekai Kyōsōkyoku EX: Arisa no Isekai Funtōki (Death March to the Parallel World Rhapsody: Arisa's Otherworldly Struggle) and follows the character Arisa before she became Satō's slave.

The television anime adaptation of the novels premiered on January 11 at 11:30 p.m. on the AT-X channel, and it is also running on the Tokyo MX, Sun TV, and BS11 channels. Crunchyroll is streaming the series with English subtitles, while Funimation is streaming the English dub.

The story of the light novel series follows a 29-year-old programmer who is on a "death march," but one day he wakes up in another world after a nap. From a meteor shower he happens to gain vast riches, and he decides to go sightseeing. So begins his "heartwarming, occasionally serious, and harem" adventure in another world.

Ainana initially began posting the series online in 2013, and Kadokawa published the first volume with illustrations by shri in in March 2014. The novel series has 1.1 million copies in print as of July. The 12th volume (seen left) of the novel series shipped on December 10.

Megumu Aya began the manga adaptation of the novels in Kadokawa's Age Premium magazine, but the series moved to Monthly Dragon Age when Age Premium ceased publication in July 2015. The sixth compiled volume (seen above right) of the manga adaptation shipped on December 9. The novel and manga series combined have a total of more than 2 million copies in print.

Yen Press is releasing the original light novel series and the manga adaptation. The company shipped the light novel series' third volume on September 19 and the manga's fourth volume on December 19.
