KLab Reveals Details for Uta no Prince-sama Shining Live App's Global Release

posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda
Global version launched on Wednesday

Game developer KLab (Love Live! School idol festival) released the global version of its Uta no Prince Sama♪ Shining Live smartphone game on Wednesday. The game is available in over 136 countries and regions, and is available worldwide except in Japan and Mainland China in English and Traditional Chinese.

KLab recently shared with ANN some details about the game. KLab revealed that it currently has no plans to fully voice the main story episodes, and that the global version starts at the same point as the Japanese version. The Japanese and global versions of the game are running on different servers.

KLab plans to have players of the global version of the game to be able to obtain the same characters and cards as the Japanese version, but it has not yet announced how the company will implement this. The gameplay is similar to the Japanese version, and also includes requirements of acquiring Ultra Rare (UR) cards through events. The chance for acquiring cards is the same in both versions. The game currently has a "pre-launch" log-in event, as well as log-in bonuses for the first 14 days of the game, and bonuses for clearing the beginner missions.

KLab is also considering implementing in-game rewards for using the game's augmented reality camera, but has not yet revealed a concrete plan for implementation.

The iOS and Android game launched in Japan last August and has reached over 2 million downloads, including players who have downloaded the game more than once. In the game, players can create and train personalized teams out of the 11 ST☆RISH and QUARTET NIGHT idols. The app features original stories starring the characters and a Camera Mode that utilizes AR technology.

The Uta no Prince Sama franchise began as a romance visual novel series by Broccoli and Nippon Ichi Software, with the first game in the series released on the PlayStation Portable in 2010. The franchise has inspired four anime seasons, and an anime film is slated for 2019.
