Ema Toyama Launches New Missions of Love Manga in March

posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda
Original manga ended in 2015, with live-action series, film slated for this year

The March issue of Kodansha's Nakayoshi magazine revealed on Friday that Ema Toyama will launch Watashi ni xx Shinasai! Couple-hen (Missions of Love - Couple Arc), a new manga series based on her Missions of Love (Watashi ni xx Shinasai!) romantic comedy manga, in the magazine's next issue on March 2. The magazine teases a "ultra-powered-up" follow-up to the original manga with "exciting secret mission love!"

The magazine also reported that the manga has 2 million copies in print.

Kodansha Comics publishes the original manga in North America and it describes the story:

Cell phone novelist Yukina Himuro has decided that in order to satisfy her fans' demand for love stories, she must experience romance firsthand. But with her icy reputation, how can she find someone willing to play the part of boyfriend? By blackmailing the most popular boy in school, of course!

Toyama launched the award-winning manga in Kodansha's Nakayoshi magazine in 2009, and ended it in June 2015. Kodansha published 19 compiled book volumes for the manga. Kodansha Comics published the manga's 14th volume last May. The manga is inspiring both a live-action series and film debuting this spring and summer, respectively. Both will star Tina Tamashiro and Yūta Koseki.

Kodansha Comics also released Toyama's Manga Dogs, I Am Here!, and Shugo Chara-chan! manga. Tokyopop previously published Toyama's Pixie Pop: Gokkun Pucho manga.
