Former SKE48 Idol Airi Furukawa's Chibi Airin no Yuruyaka na Nichijō Manga Gets 'Vertical Anime'

Former SKE48 idol group member Airi Furukawa's official Twitter account revealed on Friday that her Chibi Airin no Yuruyaka na Nichijō (Chibi Airin's Slow Daily Life) manga is getting an anime adaptation for Production I.G's Tate Anime (Vertical Anime) app. The anime will premiere this month, and the Twitter account began streaming a short preview video for the series on Saturday.

In the video, a cute stuffed bear catches Airin's eye. As she looks at it, it seems to emphatically ask her to buy it, which makes Airin anxious.
Furukawa is voicing Airin in the anime. Additional cast members include Madoka Asahina, Tamaki Orie, Kento Shiraishi, Anju Nitta, and Haruka Fushimi. Norihiko Itō is directing the series and is in charge of animation production at Production I.G Takumi Itō is the recording director, and Yūsuke Nakai is sound director.
The manga centers on Airin, a fictionalized version of Furukawa. The other characters include a pushy stuffed bear and three mushrooms. The surreal series tells nonsensical stories of Airin's daily life and interactions with those around her.
Furukawa launched the series in Kadokawa's Gravure The Television magazine in 2015. Kadokawa released the manga's second compiled book volume on Monday. Furukawa is attending several signing events for the release at various bookstores in Japan this month.
Furukawa joined SKE48 in 2009 and later became leader of Team KII. She voiced Aoi Koenji in the AKB0048 and AKB0048 next stage television anime. She became a freelance illustrator after graduating from SKE48 in 2015. Furukawa released the Chibi Airin to Umi no Sekai (Chibi Airin and Sea World) and Chibi Airin no Sūji no Ehon (Chibi Airin's Number Picture Book) picture books that year. Her Chibi Airin no ○○ Kataraseitadakimasu (Chibi Airin Would Like To Speak About...) manga also launched in Kadokawa's ComicWalker website and app in 2015.
