Schoolgirl Strikers Game Updates to Schoolgirl Strikers 2 Sequel in May

New game introduces new story, with existing users' data carrying over

Square Enix announced on April 9 that its Schoolgirl Strikers smartphone game will update on May 8 with the new title Schoolgirl Strikers 2. The game will feature a new story.

The game will add new series of EXR Memory Cards. The user's current level and relationship level with different characters will carry on to the new game.

Square Enix revealed new illustrations for characters in the game.

Crunchyroll streamed the franchise's Schoolgirl Strikers Animation Channel anime adaptation when it premiered in January 2017, and it describes the show:

The newly established private high school for girls, Goryoukan Academy, has a hidden face that people on the outside don't know about...

Mysterious apparitions called "Oburi" have appeared from a rift in space-time. The only ones capable of fighting this enemy of mankind are girls known as "Strikers," who have the ability to sense the fifth dimension. Goryoukan Academy is actually an organization that seeks out girls who are more than meets the eye and trains them up for the "Fifth Force," a combat force created to subjugate the Oburi. The story of the battles and friendships of five girls who comprise the newly assembled team "Altair Torte" is about to begin!

Square Enix launched the original smartphone game in April 2014. The game received a spinoff "idol rhythm action" game titled Schoolgirl Strikers Twinkle Melodies last August.

The game inspired a manga titled Schoolgirl Strikers Comic Channel by Hinase Momoyama (Umineko When They Cry: Dawn of the Golden Witch, Higurashi When They Cry: Massacre Arc). The manga serialized on the Gangan Online site beginning in October 2014, and Square Enix published the fifth and final compiled book volume in January 2017. Hinata Aoi launched a manga based on Schoolgirl Strikers Twinkle Melodies in Shogakukan's Monthly Sunday GX magazine last December.
