Elex Media Licenses Mizu Sahara, Michiharu Kusunoki's Kami-sama no Joker Manga

Manga about man who can grant any wish launched in 2015, ended in 2016 with 3 volumes

Indonesian publisher Elex Media Komputindo announced last Friday that it has licensed Mizu Sahara and Michiharu Kusunoki's Kami-sama no Joker (God's Joker) manga.

The manga centers on Kiwa Ogata, an ordinary male college student. He is not good at finding jobs, and his older girlfriend Mahiro constantly scolds him for it. However, he has one secret that he has never told anyone: that he can grant any wish, although the power exacts an untold price. When he ends up talking to Mahiro about this power, the course of their lives slowly becomes more and more twisted.

Sahara and Kuzunoki launched the manga in Kodansha's Evening magazine in May 2015, and ended it in November 2016. Kodansha published the manga's third and final compiled book volume in January 2017.

Sahara adapted Makoto Shinkai's The Voices of a Distant Star and The Place Promised in Our Early Days into manga. Sahara's My Girl manga inspired a live-action television series in 2009. Sahara also drew the Same Cell Organism, The Day I Become a Butterfly, Himeyuka & Rozione's Story, and Tengu-Jin manga under the name Sumomo Yumeka. Elex Media released all six volumes of Sahara's Tetsugaku Letra manga.

Kusonoki created the Wangan Midnight manga, which has inspired a television anime, a live-action film, a series of arcade video games, and the Wangan Midnight C1 Runner sequel manga. Kusunoki's other works include Eight and Aitsu to Lullaby, the latter of which was adapted into an anime film and live-action movie. Kusonoku also wrote the Shakotan Boogie manga, which inspired a four-episode OAV. Kusonoki launched the Ginkai no Speed Star manga in Shogakukan's Big Comic Spirits magazine in August 2014, which is described as "the final stage" to Wangan Midnight. Kusonoki ended the manga in 2015.
