Jiro Taniguchi, H. P. Lovecraft's The Hound and Other Stories, More Nominated for Eisner Awards

Furari, Golden Kamuy, My Brother's Husband, Otherworld Barbara, Shiver nominated for Best U.S. Edition of International Material—Asia

The 2018 Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards panel of judges announced its nominees for the best works in the comic book industry on Thursday.

Manga artist Jiro Taniguchi received a nomination for Best Writer/Artist for Furari and Louis Vuitton Travel Guide: Venice, both published by Fanfare / Ponent Mon. Taniguchi, who passed away last year, is also known for The Times of Botchan, Kodoku no Gourmet, Guardians of the Louvre, The Summit of the Gods, and A Distant Neighborhood, among other titles.

Dark Horse Comics' release of Gou Tanabe's H.P. Lovecraft's The Hound and Other Stories, translated by Zack Davisson, received a nomination in the Best Adaptation from Another Medium category along with three other titles.

Kodansha Comics' 35th anniversary edition of Katsuhiro Ōtomo's Akira received nominations in the Best Archival Collection/Project—Comic Books and Best Publication Design categories. Haruko Hashimoto, Ajani Oloye, and Lauren Scanlan edited the complete hardcover box set, and Phil Balsman, Akira Saitō (Veia), Norma Editorial, and MASH•ROOM provided designs.

Robert Kondo and Dice Tsutsumi's The Dam Keeper is nominated for Best Publication for Teens (ages 13-17). Kondo and Tsutsumi debuted "The Dam Keeper" as a short film in 2014, and it has since inspired a series of animated shorts for Hulu Japan.

Voting is open to all comic book industry professionals until June 15. The results in all categories will be announced in a gala awards ceremony on the evening of Friday, July 20 at Comic-Con International in San Diego.
