Spinoff of Aria the Scarlet Ammo novels inspired anime in 2015

This year's 10th issue of Square Enix's Young Gangan magazine revealed on Wednesday that Shogako Tachibana's Aria the Scarlet Ammo Double A (Hidan no Aria AA) manga will end in the magazine's next issue on May 18.

Funimation streamed the manga's television anime adaptation as it aired in Japan, and it describes the story:

In this spinoff of the original Aria the Scarlet Ammo series, Aria Kanzaki, the flat chested dual-wielding Butei is back! And this time, she's got a new partner. Akari Mamiya is a first year in the assault department and a low ranked Butei. She dreams of being as powerful as Aria, but her skills simply aren't up to par yet. She gets a chance to be trained by her idol when she and Aria are matched as mentee and mentor, but it turns out there's more to teaching than skill!

Kobuichi launched the manga in Young Gangan in 2010. Square Enix published the manga's 13th compiled book volume on January 23. The manga inspired a 12-episode television anime adaptation that premiered in October 2015. Funimation streamed the anime, and also released the anime on Blu-ray Disc and DVD in April 2017 with an English dub.

Chūgaku Akamatsu's original Aria the Scarlet Ammo (Hidan no Aria) novels inspired an anime in 2011. Funimation streamed the anime as it aired, and released it on Blu-ray Disc and DVD in 2012. Kadokawa released the 27th volume of the original novel series on January 25. Yoshino Koyoka has been drawing a manga adaptation of the novels in Kadokawa's Monthly Comic Alive magazine since 2009, and Kadokawa published the 16th volume last September. Digital Manga Inc. previously released three volumes of the manga digitally.
