Holmes at Kyoto Teramachi Sanjō TV Anime Adds 3 Cast Members

Ryōhei Kimura, Kōji Yusa, Sanae Kobayashi join cast of July anime

The official website for the television anime of Mai Mochizuki's Holmes at Kyoto Teramachi Sanjō (Kyōto Teramachi Sanjō no Holmes) mystery novel series revealed three additional cast members for the anime on Tuesday. The additional cast includes:

Ryōhei Kimura as Akihito Kajiwara, a handsome novice actor. His bright hair lends him a foreign appearance. His father is a famous novel writer. While he grew up in Kyoto, he speaks in a standard Japanese dialect due to the influence of his parents. He is honest and blunt to a fault, and holds some hostility towards Kiyotaka.

Kōji Yusa as Enshō, often called a genius faker. He once tried to become a monk, but met Kiyotaka and returned to his old ways. He maintains his style of always wearing a kimono and constantly shaving his hair bald. He has uncanny dexterity, reflexes, and keen eyes.

Sanae Kobayashi as Rikyū Takiyama, a cheeky but handsome boy. He has been mistaken for a girl since childhood, so he has taken to studying martial arts, and studied judo in France to train his body. He respects Kiyotaka highly, and maintains a stern attitude toward Aoi.

Previously announced cast members include:

Miyu Tomita as Aoi Mashiro, a second-year high school student who moved from Saitama's Ōmiya ward to Kyoto. She takes an antique item belonging to her grandfather to Kiyotaka's shop one day, and ends up working there as a part-timer. She has an honest personality, and has a sharp eye for detecting an object's value and authenticity.

Kaito Ishikawa as Kiyotaka Yagashira, a 22-year-old graduate student of Kyoto University. He is currently working as an apprentice appraiser of antiques at the "Kura" shop. He has a handsome figure, and is polite and gentlemanly, but he hides a strong temper. He likes going to cafes, and is skilled at brewing his own coffee.

Noriyoshi Sasaki (Ojisan to Marshmallow, My Wife is the Student Council President+!, King's Game The Animation) is directing the anime at Seven. Kenichi Yamashita (Ishida and Asakura, Actually, I Am…) is in charge of the series scripts. Yōsuke Itō (King's Game The Animation) is designing the characters, and also serves as the chief animation director.

The anime will premiere in July.

The "light, antique mystery" series revolves around a "spiteful," handsome Kyoto boy and a high school girl. The story is set at an antique shop in Kyoto's Teramachi Sanjō shopping district. High school girl Aoi Mashiro unexpectedly runs into Kiyotaka Yagashira, the son of the shop's owner, and ends up working part-time at the shop. Kiyotaka is called the "Holmes at Teramachi Sanjō," and he and Aoi solve odd cases brought to them by various clients.

Mochizuki launched the original novel series with cover illustrations by Yamōchishizu in April 2015, and Futabasha published the ninth volume on March 14. The novel won the 4th Kyoto Book Grand Prix award in 2016. Ichiha Akizuki launched the manga adaptation in Futabasha's Monthly Action magazine in December, and Futabasha shipped the manga's first compiled book volume on March 12.
