BanG Dream! Game Will Not Recast Hisako Kanemoto During Study Abroad

posted on by Jennifer Sherman

Bushiroad and Craft Egg revealed on Tuesday that there are no plans to recast Hisako Kanemoto in the BanG Dream! Girls Band Party! smartphone game. Kanemoto plays the Afterglow member Tsugumi Hazawa.

Kanemoto announced on her blog on Saturday that she is taking a hiatus from her voice acting activities so she can study abroad. Yumiri Hanamori is replacing the Kanemoto as the voice of Nao Mejiro in the television anime of FuRyu's Pastel Memories smartphone game.

Kanemoto plans to return to voice acting in March 2019. Kanemoto explained that she wanted to see a broader world, and also broaden her outlook on life, and since she was interested in studying abroad, she decided to take this step. She added that she will challenge herself to study hard and grow as a person. She thanked her fans, her talent agency, and those who supported her for helping her to take this step.

The BanG Dream! Girls Band Party! smartphone game launched in Japan in March 2017, and an English version launched in April.

Bushiroad launched the BanG Dream! multimedia project in January 2015, and the company formed the Poppin' Party band for the project in February 2015. The project's other bands include Happy World!, Pastel*Palettes, Afterglow, Roselia, and most recently, an all-male band. The band members consist of voice cast members who portray the characters in the story, and they play the same instruments as their characters.

The original 13-episode BanG Dream! television anime from ISSEN and Xebec premiered in January 2017, and Anime Network Online and Crunchyroll streamed the first season as it aired in Japan. The Pastel Life spinoff anime began airing and streaming earlier this month.

The BanG Dream! anime will premiere two more seasons by the SANZIGEN Animation Studio in January and October of 2019, respectively. The BanG Dream! Girls Band Party! game app is inspiring DMM.futureworks and SANZIGEN's BanG Dream! Girls Band Party! ☆ Pico mini anime, which will premiere on July 5.
