Key visual revealed for film telling story of Kumiko as 2nd-year student

The official Twitter account for the Sound! Euphonium franchise announced on Sunday that the second planned new film in the franchise is titled Gekijōban Hibike! Euphonium: Chikai no Finale (Sound! Euphonium The Movie: Oath's Finale), and it will open in Japan in spring 2019. The staff also revealed a key visual, which features the tagline "Is your tuning OK, sempai?"

The staff originally announced the new information at the "Hibike! Euphonium 4-kaime da yo! Uji de Omatsuri Festival" event on Sunday.

The film will tell the story of Kumiko Ōmae and others as second-year students. Tatsuya Ishihara (both seasons of Sound! Euphonium) is directing the film. The film was originally slated to open this year.

Liz to Aoitori (Liz und ein Blauer Vogel or Liz and the Blue Bird), the first of the two new films, opened in Japan on April 21. The film ranked #11 and earned 53,573,900 yen (about US$492,400) in its opening weekend. The film will screen out of competition at this year's Annecy International Animation Film Festival.

The film tells a new story of third-year students Nozomi Kasaki and Mizore Yoroizuka. Naoko Yamada (K-ON!, A Silent Voice) directed the film at Kyoto Animation, and Reiko Yoshida (K-ON!, Yowamushi Pedal) penned the script.
