2010 Detective Conan: The Lost Ship in the Sky Anime Film Gets Manga

The October issue of Shogakukan's Shōnen Sunday S magazine revealed on Saturday that the 2010 anime film Detective Conan: The Lost Ship in The Sky is inspiring a manga adaptation that will debut in the magazine in the November issue on September 25. Yutaka Abe and Jirō Maruden will draw the manga. Yasuichiro Yamamoto is credited for the film's direction, and Kazunari Kouchi is credited for the film's screenplay.
The film was the 14th film in the anime film series based on Gōshō Aoyama's Detective Conan (Case Closed) manga. In the film's story, Kid has his eyes set on the "Lady of the Sky" jewel aboard Bell 3, the largest airship in the world. However, a mysterious terrorist group called Red Shamu-neko has hijacked the airship itself, along with Conan and his allies Kogoro and Ran.
Shogakukan previously published a two-volume "anime comic" for the film in 2010 and then in a one-volume format in 2013 (pictured at right).
The October issue of Shōnen Sunday S also published the final chapter of Abe and Maruden's manga adaptation of Detective Conan: The Crimson Love Letter, the 21st Detective Conan anime film. Abe and Maruden launched the manga in Shōnen Sunday S on January 25, after concluding their adaptation of the Detective Conan: The Darkest Nightmare film last December.
The original Detective Conan manga has been running since 1996 and has spawned an ongoing anime series.
