Hyouge Mono's Yoshihiro Yamada Launches New Short Manga

Hyouge Mono manga creator Yoshihiro Yamada will launch the short manga series Shikake Gurashi in this year's 41st issue of Kodansha's Morning magazine on September 13. The manga will be based on author Shōtarō Ikenami's Edo-period historical novels, including the Baian and Hissatsu series.

Ikenami's works have previously inspired various live-action television and film adaptations, as well as the Professional Swordsmen of the Edo Era manga and Onihei manga and anime.

dTV's live-action "movie comic" adaptation of Yamada's Hyouge Mono manga will debut online on September 12 at 12:00 a.m.

Yamada launched Hyouge Mono in Morning in 2005, and the series ended on November 30. Kodansha published the manga's 25th volume on January 23. The manga inspired a television anime adaptation in 2011. Morning magazine announced in January that a new live-action adaptation of the series has been green-lit, and planning is underway.
