PS4 version launches in Japan on January 17

The official YouTube channel for the Yakuza vieo game franchise began streaming a promotional video on Thursday for the PlayStation 4 version of the Yakuza 4 (Ryū ga Gotoku 4: Densetsu o Tsugumono) game.

The game will launch in Japan on January 17.

Kadokawa's Famitsu.com website revealed on Tuesday that revising and re-recording some of the character Masayoshi Tanimura's lines became necessary. Therefore, the game will replace actor Hiroki Narimiya with Toshiki Masuda as Tanimura. Narimiya originally voiced the character and provided the inspiration for his appearance. Narimiya retired from the entertainment industry in 2016 after allegations of cocaine use surfaced.

Sega originally released Yakuza 4 in Japan in 2010 and in the West in 2011.

Sega released the Yakuza 3 (Ryū ga Gotoku 3) game on PS4 in Japan on August 9. The game retains the same content as the original, has 1080p full HD resolution, and runs at 60 frames per second.

Sega is also releasing Yakuza 5 on the PS4. The company released Yakuza 5 (Ryū ga Gotoku 5: Yume, Kanaeshi Mono) in Japan in 2012 and in the West in 2015.

Sega released Yakuza Kiwami, a full remake of the original Yakuza game, in Japan for PS3 and PS4 in January 2017. Sega then released the game in English on PS4 in August 2017. Sega released Yakuza Kiwami 2, a similar remake of Yakuza 2, in Japan for the PS4 on December 7, and released the game in English on August 28.

Yakuza 6: The Song of Life launched on the PS4 in Japan in December 2016 and launched in North America on April 17.
